This Trip Isn’t What I Thought It Was

So I started this blog with the intention of capturing the details of my life as my husband and I moved to Scotland for a postdoc (temporary job) of his, which we were very excited about.

It has been a very busy summer, which was blessedly full of a variety of wonderful trips and experiences, but has left me a bit wrung out and ready to settle down.

BUT.

As our things were floating happily across the Atlantic (a 6-8 week trip), and we were preparing for a final round of travel before making the leap to the UK, my husband got a new job offer, for a permanent position, on the West Coast (we have lived on the East Coast our entire adult lives).

So, with our things in an uncomfortable state of limbo, and unclear on when this new position will actually start, it looks like I’ll only be in Scotland for a week before leaving my husband there to travel back to the States, at some point to begin hunting for a new place to live.

So while this blog won’t necessarily be about my life in Scotland, it will still be about an awful lot of travel. For reasons that will become clear as I write, this unexpected change in plans is highly reflective of my life in general, so I look forward to the opportunity to reflect. And panic. Mostly panic, really.
